The Practical Nursing Program prepares students for employment in many aspects of the nursing field such as long-term care facilities, hospitals, doctor's office, and health maintenance organizations. Once the students complete the program, they will need to take the State Board of Nursing exam for Practical Nurses NCLEX-PN to become a Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN).
Each student will be taught the core functions which includes but not limited to the following:
Adapt care in consideration of the client's values, customs, culture, religion, and beliefs.
Utilize professional values and standards as a basis for ethical nursing practice.
Use therapeutic nursing to achieve the optimal level of health.
Accept responsibility and accountability for adhering to the high standards of nursing practice as mandated by the nurse practice act.
Communicate effectively using interpersonal skills combined with information technology.
Each student's time will be divided between classroom instructions, laboratory time, and supervised experience in the nursing home and hospital settings.
Students must take and pass the State Board of Nursing exam for Practical Nursing NCLEX-PN to become a Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN)
